Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a long trip for a single day? It's a full day with plenty of hours of driving, but it's one of the most popular and rewarding excursions from Fez. The stunning Rif landscape makes the journey enjoyable, and the time in Chefchaouen is enough to capture its essence.
Why is Chefchaouen blue? There are several theories. One of the most popular is that Jewish refugees who arrived in the 15th century painted their houses blue to symbolize the sky and paradise. Another theory says that blue helps to repel mosquitoes. Whatever the reason, the result is magical!
What kind of clothing should I wear? Wear comfortable clothing and suitable shoes for walking on cobblestone streets. Although it's not as conservative as other areas, it's respectful to dress modestly. Bring a jacket, as the mountain climate can be cooler.
